BIO

I am an Assistant Professor of Finance and a Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Dean's Faculty Fellow at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management. I teach corporate finance in Vanderbilt's MBA, MSF, and Executive MBA programs; and managerial finance in the Master of Management in Health Care program.

Before joining the faculty at Owen, I was a Financial Economist for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over 2012 to 2018. From 2014 to 2017, I was also an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research generally focuses on the role of regulation, governance, and disclosure in addressing information asymmetries and agency problems between capital market participants. Thus, my work often lies at the intersection of corporate finance, law, and accounting.

I am particularly interested in understanding the costs and benefits of SEC regulation and the tradeoff between investor protection and capital formation, especially as it pertains to small companies and retail investors.

My latest research examines human capital disclosure, shareholder engagement policies, and issues pertaining to digital assets including cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
